Return to Hitz Rhodehamel Nature Preserve for Fall Leaf Viewing

Today I returned to one of my favorite trails in Indiana. The Hitz Rhodehamel Nature Preserve Trail. This trail is only 3 miles long but offers a lot of wonderful views. It is relatively unknown and gorgeous. You can watch the video here: Hitz Rhodehamel Fall Leaf Viewing

Beautiful scenery there, with many recognisable hardwoods that we have in the Northeast….Sassafras, hickories, and a variety of oaks.
Around 3:30, that rock formation I presume is either slate or shale, meaning that the area was likely once a large lake or a river ran through the place millions of years ago.
Autumn is, without a doubt, my favourite time of year. Winter is a close second, but the fiery beauty of the foliage has always mesmerised me since as far back as I can remember. 🙂
