Had a combo Truck camping, backpacking, and hammock camping adventure this past weekend in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. On Friday evening, we truck and tent camped on Rock Bridge Road and then on Saturday met up with a group to take the Wildcat Trail to the Swift Camp Creek trail for some excellent sites right next to the creek. The rain was in the forecast at 80% at one point but we were lucky that only a few scattered storms passed over us. After a great night sleep in my new Raven Hammock by Dream Hammock, we hiked back up to the cars and had some much-deserved pizza and Ale8 at Miguel’s. Which is something you should never skip if you ever go to Red River Gorge.
This past black Friday, I decided to get out of town and let the consumerism zombies have at each other. My destination was the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. It is one of my favorite places to camp, backpack, and hike. I set out to find Hanson’s Point which is an overlook off an unofficial trail.
In this video, I return to a familiar place to try my hand again at hammock camping. I originally set out to find the elusive Timmons Arch that I could not find on a previous trip and was again skunked. Oh well, I enjoy a fantastic campsite by the water.
Wow 2016 has been an epic year of travel and adventure for me. As I was looking back on all my videos, it became so clear that I have been to and seen many places. I hope you enjoy this look back on my year of hiking, camping, backpacking, and kayaking
A couple of friends and I set out to find the elusive Timmans Arch in the Red River Gorge. We camped at Koomer Ridge and also visited Creation Falls, Rock Bridge, and did some milky way photography on Auxier Ridge Trail. Come along with us on this adventure.
This past memorial day weekend, I took a trip to the Red River Gorge Geological Area to do some solo backpacking and camping. I was on the Osborne Trail in the Clifty Wilderness area and found a nice little camp site about a mile into the trail. Since I had planned on two nights and the time of day was getting late, I decided to make camp for the night. I had quite the adventure when I was startled by a bear running through my camp.
