Truck Camping in my Toyota Tundra at the Red River Gorge

Every year, my buddy Steve Sherron and I do a camping trip. Well last year, 2017, we were not able to do a trip because he got hurt on his kayak. This year we were finally able to meet up and he brought his adventure van over to meet me at the Red River Gorge for some serious 2 days of excellent camping and exploration. While we were there we explored Chimney Top Rock and Princess Arch. Due to Steve’s injury, we could only do some light sightseeing this year. Hopefully, his knee will continue to heal and we can do more hiking next year. On our second night, we traveled further north in the Daniel Boone National Forest to the Twin Knobs Campground. We had a great campsite right by the lake and enjoyed some ribeye steaks cooked on the Solo Stove Bonfire. They turned out great!!

Truck Camping: Truck Camper Bed Buildout

n this video, I show the process of modifying a twin bed frame I purchased on Amazon to be able to fit my truck bed. I had to do this because I didn’t measure my truck bed first. Live and learn. Anyway if you want to avoid this make sure you always measure first. We got it modified and it works great. We still would have had to do a little welding even if I had done things right because we had to move one of the center supports to accommodate the wheel well. Here is the link to the bed frame if you are interested although I would recommend getting a regular twin instead of a twin XL as it will fit better. Amazon link: http://amzn.to/2nNomyU

Road Trip Preparations: Cooking Food on the Road

For my upcoming trip, I wanted to make sure I was able to prepare my own foods while van camping. I also wanted to make sure whatever I chose did not take up a lot of space in my van. In this video, I demonstrate the portable butane single burner stove I found on Amazon

Road Trip Preparations: How to Keep Food Cold on the Road

Trying to find ways to keep food cold on the road is a challenge. There are many options for coolers and portable refrigerators out there but most of them are pretty pricey. In this video, I talk about my new cooler purchase and how it is a pretty good value for the money.

Road Trip Preparations: DIY Camper Van Awning

I will be doing some car camping at Death Valley National Park where the temperatures can reach into the 100’s. Given that fact, I decided to make myself an awning for my camper van.¬†
